It is a UNESCO world heritage site and has a large collection of palaces and buildings of different architectural patterns and Roman style buildings from 10th century. The wide ranging renovation was carried out by architect Josip Plecnik during 1918-1938.The castle has undergone further repairs, reconstruction and beautification since then.
